Course Progression and Woodlife Trails Progression Award

If you would like a complete learning experience, we recommend you follow our course progression. It is specifically designed to lead you through stages from first steps to advanced. To achieve our Woodlife Trails Progression Award, you must attend a number of specific courses at each stage.

Registration for the Progression Award is free and you only pay for the courses you attend. You can take as much time as you wish to progress through the various stages. You will receive an award portfolio which tracks your progress and a special amulet after each stage, which is a symbol of your achievement.

Stage 1 - This isn't just for beginners - it is designed to send you in the right direction and put you right on track towards an awareness and integration with the natural environment. It will provide you with a good foundation as a naturalist and tracker using bushcraft and awareness skills as a vehicle. To gain the first award you must attend the Countryside and Woodland Awareness course, the Woodland Camp course (or a bushcraft related course involving safety and use of sharp tools) and one Woodland Craft course of your choice (eg wood-carving, spoon-making, cordage making, tracking stick making).

Stage 2 - We now go deeper and explore your own capabilities and senses as well as developing your skills as a tracker and naturalist. Our immersion course will put you closer to wildlife than you ever thought possible.  To achieve the award, you should attend the Wilderness Immersion Course, Woodland Tracker course and a more advanced craft or bushcraft related course.

Stage 3 - This stage puts all your learning under one roof. You will attend a longer course where your skills and knowledge will be developed even further. The Forest Tracker course and a week-long uk-based expedition will just about cement all the learning and take you to a new levels of awareness and skills to appreciate the Natural World most probably for the rest of your life.

Further development - From now on it will be up to you; but we will always be on hand to provide you with advice and further development.
