About Woodlife

Woodlife was created in 2004 principally to journal my personal adventures through the British woodland, discovering new and revisiting old methods of being comfortable in the woods and learning how we can use Nature's natural resources (where appropriate) for crafts and getting close to woodland inhabitants.

The journey has taken me along new and unknown paths as documented in the many years since the online journal was commenced such as wilderness living skills and bushcraft. I have also revisted the known and well-trodden paths created by many years of being a wildlife and tracking enthusiast, as documented in many hard copy journals even before the Internet was conceived!  But it is the power of the web that has enabled me to meet many like-minded and very skilled people and good friends.

The opportunity to meet others presented itself through various forums and in 2007 I established the Woodlife Forum in order to arrange meets with a small group and discuss other aspects of Wildlife, Bushcraft and Tracking, which perhaps other forums didn't address. We soon realised there were even more like-minded people than we thought and later in 2007, I established the UK's first (and still only) Social Network for Wildlife, Bushcraft and Tracking enthusiasts. The Network is called the Woodlife Social Network and it now has over 1500 members from all over the world. A fantastic team of core volunteers helps me administer the site.

Next steps? I am never one to stay still too long and, as can be seen in my About page, I have a few skills myself to give and I'm definately NOT getting any younger! I believe the time is right to pass on this accumulated knowledge of many years of being a wildlife enthusiast and more recent years of being involved with bushcraft (with a lot of help from my friends.)
